Tonight, players have an incredible opportunity to win the third-largest Powerball® jackpot in history! The current Powerball jackpot is estimated to be a staggering $1.2 billion, with a cash value of $551.7 million. This massive prize is the largest Powerball jackpot of the year so far, surpassing the $1.08 billion jackpot won in California on July 19th. For the first time ever in Powerball history, we’re seeing back-to-back jackpot cycles reaching billion-dollar figures.

Drew Svitko, Powerball Product Group Chair and Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director, notes the excitement around such a large jackpot, stating, “A billion-dollar Powerball jackpot attracts a lot of new players to the game, and we anticipate the majority of ticket sales for tonight’s drawing will occur this afternoon and evening.” He also reminds players, “Whether it’s your first time buying a ticket or you’re a frequent player, please remember to sign your ticket and reach out to your local lottery if you win the jackpot. Your local lottery will continue to be the best resource for information on how to claim a prize.”
The Powerball drawing will take place tonight at approximately 10:59 p.m. EST at the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee. You can watch the drawing on select TV stations and live online at Powerball.com. Remember that ticket sale cut-off times vary by location, usually occurring 1-2 hours before the draw.
If you’re lucky enough to win tonight’s jackpot, you’ll have a choice: receive an estimated $1.2 billion as an annuity or take a lump sum payment estimated at $551.7 million. Keep in mind that both options are before taxes. Choosing the annuity means you’ll get an initial payment followed by 29 annual payments, each increasing by 5% each year.
The jackpot rolled over on Monday night after no ticket matched all six numbers. The numbers drawn were white balls 12, 26, 27, 43, 47 and red Powerball 5. The Power Play® multiplier was 2X. However, the Monday drawing still created over 2.7 million winning tickets across the country. Two tickets, sold in Delaware and Michigan, matched all five white balls, each winning $1 million. Additionally, two tickets in New York and South Carolina also matched all five white balls and, by using the Power Play feature, doubled their prize to $2 million. Other significant wins from Monday included 70 tickets winning $50,000 and 12 tickets winning $100,000.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play and are available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It’s worth noting that over half of the money from Powerball ticket sales stays within the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold, supporting local causes. Powerball drawings happen every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. EST and are streamed live on Powerball.com.
While the overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 24.9, the odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
