Starting the Climb from Erdtree Gazing Hill
To begin your overland journey to Volcano Manor, your starting point should be the Erdtree Gazing Hill Site of Grace in Altus Plateau. From this vantage point, orient yourself to spot a distant statue atop a hillside.
Mount your trusty steed, Torrent, and ride towards the statue. Upon reaching it, take a left turn and venture into the Wyndham Ruins. Be cautious as you navigate these ruins, as they are patrolled by the formidable Tibia Mariner boss. Continuing through the Wyndham Ruins will lead you to a cave-like passage housing the Seethewater River Site of Grace. Progressing north from this Site of Grace marks the true beginning of your ascent up Mt. Gelmir.
Navigating Mt. Gelmir and Reaching the Fallingstar Beast
The ascent of Mt. Gelmir is a relatively linear path. Continue northward, consistently choosing routes that lead upwards. This climb involves a significant amount of ladder ascents, adding to the vertical nature of your journey.

Your path will eventually lead you to a series of towering rock walls equipped with numerous ladders, facilitating your climb to higher elevations. You’ll know you’re nearing your destination when you encounter a long rope bridge spanning a vast chasm.
Crossing this bridge brings you to the Ninth Mt. Gelmir Campsite Site of Grace. Beyond this point, you’ll find another ladder and a Spiritspring for Torrent. However, proceed with extreme caution.
Both the ladder and the Spiritspring serve as direct paths to the arena of the Fully-Grown Fallingstar Beast. Engaging with either will trigger this challenging boss fight. If you wish to circumvent the immediate confrontation, utilize the Spiritspring and veer sharply right upon reaching the arena’s edge. Carefully navigate the perimeter to the right, effectively bypassing the boss for now.
Final Steps to Volcano Manor
Having either defeated or skillfully evaded the Fallingstar Beast, look for a prominent rock formation jutting out on the right side of the boss arena. Approach the edge of this rock and jump down. This leap will place you on the final stretch leading directly to the imposing doors of Volcano Manor.
Instant Teleport: The Abductor Virgin Method
For those seeking a quicker route to Volcano Manor, and who are comfortable with a slightly unconventional method, teleportation via Abductor Virgin is an intriguing alternative. This method is surprisingly accessible early in the game, requiring only access to Raya Lucaria Academy.
Location: Raya Lucaria Academy’s Church of the Cuckoo
Begin by progressing through Raya Lucaria Academy until you reach the Church of the Cuckoo Site of Grace. From the Site of Grace, exit into the adjacent graveyard area. You’ll encounter a large, rotating water wheel mechanism acting as an elevator to the upper levels of the academy, leading towards the Debate Parlor.
Getting Abducted and Arriving at Volcano Manor’s Basement
To initiate the teleport, ride the water wheel elevator downwards. Jump onto one of the rising platforms, then quickly transition to the platforms descending. Remain on the downward platform as it travels to its lowest point, ignoring the intended upward trajectory. Allow the platform to carry you downwards until it begins to ascend again. This deliberate misdirection will cause you to fall into a hidden underground area characterized by crystalline formations.
Within this subterranean location, you’ll encounter an Abductor Virgin (also known as an Iron Maiden). These wheeled contraptions are easily recognized by their spinning saw blades and grabbing appendages. Your objective is to allow the Abductor Virgin to use its grab attack – the attack where its doors open and inner arms extend to seize you. Crucially, this grab attack must deliver the final blow that “kills” you.
Instead of a typical death and respawn, being defeated by the Abductor Virgin’s grab attack in this specific location will teleport you to the basement of Volcano Manor.
Once inside Volcano Manor, progress forward to discover the Twin Abductor Virgins boss encounter within a nearby cave. Defeating these bosses is necessary to fully explore and escape the manor, unless you choose to fast travel out using a Site of Grace, which you’ll need to discover within Volcano Manor first. Otherwise, repeating the Abductor Virgin ‘teleport’ might be necessary for future visits.
The Easiest Teleport: Rya’s Questline
Perhaps the simplest and arguably most story-rich method to reach Volcano Manor involves following the questline of the NPC, Rya. This method circumvents combat encounters and offers a straightforward teleportation option.
Starting Rya’s Questline in Liurnia of the Lakes
To begin, locate Rya in Liurnia of the Lakes. She can be found north of the Laskyar Ruins, near the Birdseye Telescope, within a gazebo. Rya is quite visible and easy to spot in this location.
Upon speaking with Rya, she will reveal that her necklace has been stolen and request your assistance in retrieving it. Agreeing to help initiates her questline.
Completing the Necklace Quest and Meeting Rya at Grand Lift of Dectus
The thief in question is Blackguard Big Boggart, who can be found just northwest of Rya’s location, outside the Boilprawn Shack. Speak to Boggart, inquire about the necklace, and you’ll have the option to either purchase it for 1000 Runes or defeat him to retrieve it. Purchasing the necklace is the recommended approach, as it avoids unnecessary conflict and keeps Boggart available for later interactions.
Return the necklace to Rya. After thanking you, she will share more about herself and her association with Lady Tanith of Volcano Manor. Exhaust her dialogue to progress the questline.
Teleporting to Volcano Manor with Rya
Continue your journey until you reach Altus Plateau, ideally via the Grand Lift of Dectus. At the summit of the lift, locate Rya waiting near the railing on the left side. Speak to her, and she will offer to take you to Volcano Manor. Accepting her offer will instantly teleport you to Tanith’s chambers within Volcano Manor, providing the easiest and most direct route to this intriguing location.
